For a decade in the field of communication for the place, we came together with a pure love for our island and its people, Tinos and its sides, with issues that attracted the attention of our visitors from all over the world, who apart from Tinos lovers, they are special people each one of them in his field of interests!
There are young people with a vision that are the leaders to ideas and concepts such as Tinos Food Paths or Tinos running experience, entrepreneurs of the food service, entertainment and accommodation that upgrade their services, resulting in increasing tourist inflows to the island year after year.
Our handmade island is a pole of attraction and a new hot spot of accommodation for young people, families, couples, famous or not who choose to have the most important moments of their lives, their marriages and baptisms there every summer.
All these wonderful things happen to a place that has remained almost unchanged for centuries with the dry stone walls (recently joined the UNESCO Heritage List), the largest Cycladic paths network, the approximately 50 traditional villages, our chapels…!
Tinos is a place that offers incentives to attract visitors as well as quality of life for everyone living there!
At the same time the island is facing the issue of the installation of wind turbines.
Everyone in our communication group and I are neither politicians nor environmentalists. We stand by every action that concerns the interests of our place and offers a promising future, expressing our views, concerns and suggestions!
We start from the “Lords of the Wind”…!
The money they pour on the wind turbines are to a large extent ours, too!
The same funds cover only 30% of the investment costs, while the remaining financing of wind farms comes from the inclusion of investment in subsidized projects, either through Development Law or through Community programmes and bank lending!
It’s not “their” money… and they don’t throw them away for free…!
The largest proportion of investments goes abroad, especially to wind turbine companies-for example, the Danish companies have a market share of 40% worldwide-while the balance remains in the country but mainly goes to the large private capital. We will not analyse every kilowatt-hour that the wind farms produce and the power they provide, how much they sell it and how much they buy it in the connected PPC system, as it is something easily found for further concern!
The fairytale and worship worthy production of green energy!
After the “legal” gorses ,the berms, the millstones, the paths etc. are destroyed, the generators may suddenly be turned off, as the wind is very strong, its speed rises from 8 Beaufort and goes to 10 at least. Something that is almost unchecked, the generators have an automatic system and suddenly they are all out of order…!
The same happens when the wind doesn’t blow or when there is no energy supply!
Jobs a crazy UTOPIA!
The ‘ launch ‘ of wind-related employment can come true if you live in the countries that produce wind turbines!
Modern wind turbines are not manufactured in Greece. They are manufactured in countries where there is the necessary technological experience and industry. Denmark, which holds 40% of the world’s market share, is indeed an example, with 20,000 jobs related to wind energy. At the local level the only permanent position that could be created for a wind farm is that of the keeper. But even this is redundant, since wind stations have the ability to be remotely monitored through a special software.
Let’s see now the benefit of 2% for the municipalities, after the end of the life of the wind turbines or the closure of the company that manages some of the wind turbines….!
For the municipalities, where the wind stations will be installed, there is the famous compensatory fee of 2% of the total turnover-i.e. the revenues-of the company that owns the wind farm. First of all, how a municipality can check whether the whole amount is paid especially after the end of the “life” or the destruction of a wind turbine or in the case of “disappearance” of the management company. Who and what is charged for the collection of useless materials and restoration of the environment in its original form?
We recommend:
Renewable energy sources that meet essential conditions to protect the environment from their “birth” up to their withdrawal!
Modification of the regional planning of RES in more strict conditions in the places of tourist interest, with certified gigantic history and tourist heritage!
The constraint for industrial renewable energy sources, if any, to be defined by the municipality as “available” areas of the island, all of them at the same place!
The organized entrepreneurship of wind turbines from wherever it comes to provide compensatory benefits for our place! The financing of necessary infrastructure projects, such as:
- INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TINOS
- PORT OF TINOS
- TRADITIONAL AND HISTORICAL PANORMOS PORT
- Projects for the development of ecotourism and related alternative forms of tourism!
- Water supply improvement projects in local communities
- Asphalt paving of rural roads in villages with difficulty of approach.
- Social sponsorships to vulnerable groups of people every year
…. And after that, take all the wind you want!
