Cooking à la Tinos
At CHEF D’ OEUVRE, the first Cooking and Pastry Making School ever operating in Greece, you will find out that a good cuisine is of…Tinian gender!
The Professional School of Gastronomy, CHEF D’ OEUVRE, is the first specialized School ever operating in Greece, set up by two siblings with a Tinian descent, Anastassios Perimenis (Principal of the school) and Despoina Perimenis (Contact & PR Director). CHEF D’ OEUVRE is renowned for the high level of the education offered in gastronomic specialties.
The specialties one can study at CHEF D’ OEUVR are: Professional Cooking, Professional Pastry Making, Bread Making, Professional Bar Tending, Food and Beverage Business Management (F&B Management).
When CHEF D’ OEUVRE was established, few had foreseen the long life of the first specialized School of Cooking and Pastry Making in Greece. Twenty years later, Anastassios Perimenis, a teacher himself, reveals that the secret of the training school’s successful journey is the offer of specialized knowledge and the absolutely targeted in-service training of the future chefs and pastry chefs.
For those students who wish to go further, the School has a Post-Graduate cycle of studies in Food & Beverage Management. The higher diploma in F&B Management will help those who are interested to gain all the necessary knowledge ammunition so that they go on to become excellent businessmen or executives in catering companies.
CHEF D’ OEUVRE is the only school to deal exclusively with gastronomic expertise, as according to Mr. Perimenis: “dealing with only one object has always much better results both in training and forwarding the students into the business market”.
Through its Professional Appointment Department, the School can guarantee the professional progress and success of all its students, without exception, in distinct companies in the hotel and tourism fields. The expert career advisors of CHEF D’ OEUVRE deal with every student on a personal level, ensuring his/her wished employment – in parallel with his/her education – in the field of his/her expertise, with insurance and very good earnings. “It is no coincidence, therefore, that the percentage of absorbency of our School graduates nears 100%, and this is verified by more than 6,000 CHEF D’ OEUVRE graduates who in our day are successful professional Chefs, Pastry Makers, F&B Managers, Barmen and work in restaurants, hotels and catering companies, or have established and now manage their own businesses”, Mr. Perimenis states in an exemplary fashion.
International Distinction
The internationally acknowledged status of our School is verified by the countless distinctions in competitions of artistic cooking, pastry making and bar tending on a national and international level. Its international distinctions and the gold medals in the field of gastronomy, as well as the fact that it was the Official Organization of Training in the Catering field which undertook and successfully completed all the catering services for the 2004 Olympic Games have placed it among the top Schools of Gastronomic Education in Europe.
It is worth mentioning that the most important tourist units both in Greece and abroad, such as the Athens and London Hilton, Club Mediterranée, Robinson Club, Aldemar, Porto Karras, Helios, Louis Hotels etc., are manned with students and graduates from CHEF D’ OEUVRE.
With the descent of the two siblings as a trigger and with reference to similar opportunities of progress offered to a young person who lives and works in Tinos, Mrs. Perimenis points out: “Taking as granted the fact that Tinos is one of the most gifted islands of the Cyclades, with abundant natural wealth and distinguished beauty, advantageously positioned not far from Athens and with development possibilities as to different forms of alternative tourism (religion, gastronomy, sports etc.), I hold that young Tinians, should they really wish, can find and exploit opportunities of professional progress on the island. Of course, a necessary prerequisite is, apart from strong will, the proper training and the continual retraining in the field each one has chosen to work in.
In this case the ideal field the young Tinian could invest in, regarding studies and professional career, is tourism and all its extensions. The most important of all things for the rapid tourist development of the island is for all those Tinians who work in the tourism industry to realize that amateurism in Europe 2015 is deceased! Absolute professionalism is an imperative need in the supply of tourist services on our island, and equally important are continual retraining, consistence and honesty with the tourists. All the above, combined with the unique hospitable mentality of the Tinians as well as their wholehearted devotion and love of the island first and then the visitor, will make Tinos one of the most sought-after destinations, not only on the Greek but also on the demanding international market.
We hope that the young Tinian will stay on his/her island and will give it a fresh aura combining the modern profile of Tinos with its authentically traditional character, progress with culture, and its idyllic past with the demanding and progressive present and future!”.
Thoughts of the two Tinians in charge of the School on their island: “Both to me and my brother Tinos means a lot of important reference points in our lives. It is our mother’s island, with a descent from Arnados village, which we have adored from childhood and we have visited every summer of our lives. Whenever we have a chance we look forward to coming to our house at Porto, because this is where we relax and find peace. We adore the natural beauty of the island, every corner and beach, its villages and its people, its northern winds, the simplicity of living here and the positive aura this island oozes.
You cannot imagine how happy we get on seeing young Tinians at the doorstep of the School eager to place their confidence with us regarding their studies and future, and how proud we get when we see them again, after they have completed their studies, making progress or even setting up their own restaurants on the island.
We have managed to make the youth of Tinos think of the School as their home and of us as their family. They know well that despite the passing of time we will always be beside them and support them in everything they do”.
