On the 30th of January, the finding of the miraculous icon of the Annunciation of Virgin Mary is celebrated. The afternoon of the day before, the Holy Icon is carried by a procession to the lower temple, called “Naos tis Evreseos”, and placed near the point where it was buried for long. In the evening a devotional is held, that is attended by a large number of believers.
The next day an Archieratical Mass is held and then a Memorial and wreath laying on the Archbishop’s Gabriel bust.
At about 2-3 pm there is a litany of the Holy Icon in the alleys of Tinos.
On the platform of the waterfront a prayer takes place and the procession returns to the temple through the east side of the town. Before the Vesper a wreath laying is held by the Governing Committee to the Aquirers’ Graves.
In the evening of the same day, the students of the island, headed by the Metropolitan Bishop and Priests, the Mayor with the City Council and a lot of people carry out the custom of the “Lanterns”, singing local songs.
